Introducing Julie Bowskill - our new Lady Captain
Last week our new lady captain drove in to celebrate taking over the reins. The day was very well attended with the theme being to do with the lady captain's favourite sport (other than golf), netball. She was brought to the club by her temporary chauffer Neville Custance who made sure she was there on time.
She proceeded to hit one ball with the Abe Mitchell club and one with her own.
Under the pressure of everyone watching, Julie hit two excellent shots!

VGC Member Les Schofield becomes Miguel Angel Jimenez's Putting Coach
Club Member Leslie Schofield is renowned within the club as one of the best putters. Miguel Angel Jimenez heard this and made contact with Les through Angel Matamala.
They met in Dubai last week for the first time at the season ending DP World Tour Championship won by Rory McIlroy to work on a few of Leslie's ideas.
We will keep you posted on his progress…
Glen Heads to Turkey
On Tuesday Glen headed out to Turkey to play in the PGA Playoffs at the PGA of Sultan course at Antalya Golf Club, where 21 of the best players in Great Britain are battling it out.
The top 10 players from the field will receive an invite to play in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Golf Club in May.

Glen's tip of the week
Over recent weeks I have been playing with quite a few members. Although when playing I try and focus on my own game, there is a common error I have noticed with my playing partners.
You may think what I'm about to say sounds too simple, but ask yourself this question… how far do you hit each club?
There is nothing more frustrating than hitting the perfect iron straight at the flag… only for the ball to land short of the green. And I'm seeing this happen more and more often.
Just by knowing how far you hit every club can take plenty of strokes off your scorecard. And it's so easy to calculate.
There are many ways to calculate how far you hit each club, however I would suggest the easiest solution is to book a Gap Test with one of our professionals.
All you need to do is hit a few balls with each club using our GC2 Ball Monitor (which takes around 30 minutes to complete) and the data will be shown instantly. We will also work out all the averages and give them to you on an easy to read bag tag.
