With just one event to go, it is all still to play for in this year's Race to Dubai. Seven golfers head into the final event of the season with a chance of topping the rankings, but who will it be? Henrik Stenson made it two years on the trot by successfully defending his title in the season-ending event last time round, but can he make it three? Standing in his way are golfers with a plethora of talent, including Rory McIlroy, Danny Willett, Shane Lowry, Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace and Byeong-hun An. No-one knows what is going to happen at this stage, but Sunday's action is not to be missed!

Turkey Trot Results
Saturday, 14 November was the first leg of the Club's Turkey Trot competition. Despite the poor weather the competition was still well attended and scoring was very good. Well done to everyone who played, the next leg will be played on Sunday, 6 December. The Turkey Trot presentation will take place on Sunday, 20 December.

Last week we held the Fabian Trophy pro-am here at Verulam. We were represented by Joel, Glen and Laurence all with their teams being members of the club!
All three pro's did us proud with Joel shooting 72 (level) Laurence shooting 69 (-3) and Glen shooting a whopping 64 (-8)! Good preparation for his visit to turkey next week!
Glen's team also won the overall trophy so well done to all the teams that came along to support the tournament!
Bob Milner's Game Improvement Sessions
You may remember that in the summer I offered one lucky member an opportunity to have a series of lessons over the summer months. Bob Milner and I worked together over a few months making changes in his swing along with assessing his equipment so he could get the best out of his game. This is what he had to say:
"Having completed eight lessons with Joel through the summer I have managed to progress my performances and reduce my handicap by two shots. Much of the tuition centred on my driver, which, although only a couple of years old, was not ideally suited to me. Having tried the PING G30 adjusted by Joel to suit me, an immediate improvement was noticed. I have continued with this and find I am more consistent with my drives and this has given me added confidence off the tee. Further work with my hybrid clubs again showed I was not getting the height and carry. Joel lent me a club which improved those aspects.
I now have that also!
Overall the experience has proved very beneficial for my game. Now it is up to me to continue improving other aspects. The programme has proved that you can definitely improve your game with the correct clubs and swing improvements advised by Joel.

Glen & Laurence go Elite!
As many of you know, Glen and Laurence were both involved in last summer's Hertfordshire County Development Programme. As a result of their great work, they have both been singled out and recently appointed as Hertfordshire Performance Coaches.
This means that Laurence and Glen will be working side by side with the most elite players in Hertfordshire (ages 15-18). During their new roles they will be sharing their experiences in helping the players develop through the winter and help them perform well when representing the county in national events.
Despite all the rain the course is in extremely good condition. With no temporary tees or greens why not come down to the Home of the Ryder Cup and have a game.
