On Saturday 12th April I will be situated next to the putting green from 11-4pm. I will be on hand with my portable driving net, Callaway and PING fitting carts, and my GC2 Launch Monitor. This is a great opportunity to try the latest equipment in comparison to your own equipment. All you need to bring is your own wood or 6 iron and the current ball that you use. Range Now Open!
The range has now reopened for use from 8.00 - 5.30.
A range token is just £2.50, so there is no excuse for not sharpening up your game on the range! I must remind you that all balls hit on the driving range must now be purchased from the professional shop. The collection of golf balls is not permitted, and play must be from the mats on the approach area and between the ropes at the bottom. We would be grateful if you would repair your divots with the divot soil provided in the green bins and please return baskets to the shop after use.
I am always trying to improve my custom fitting service, and as a result I have added some additional Driver shafts to my Callaway Opti Fit cart. I now have a huge selection of custom fit options. Why buy off the shelf or anywhere else??
Stephen's Fitting
Our assistant Stephen (pictured above) travelled up to the Callaway fitting centre in Chessington. He was fitted for the new Callaway Apex Pro irons. He has gained a straighter and more consistent ball flight. With his old irons he was struggling with distance control and a high left shot. Straight away the Callaway Staff Fitter found the shaft that suited him perfectly and immediately his shots were straighter and more consistent. He also hits a low ball with his driver so the first thing the fitter tried to fix was the ball flight, and the X2 Hot Pro solved all of his problems.
The highlight of last weeks newsletter was the success of our Callaway Fitting day. Well Patrick Wright purchased the Big Bertha Driver and X2 Hot 5 wood, and also lofted up from a 9.5 degree driver to11.5 degrees. With the adjustability of the driver, we were able to change the loft by +1 degree and adjusted the sliding weight at the back to promote a slight draw shot. As part of my promotion, Patrick will also receive a FREE golf lesson worth £20.
This is what Patrick had to say:
"Not only I can I hit the ball 20 yards further with the Big Bertha Driver and X2 Hot 5 wood than with its predecessor, but it is so much easier to launch". The Big Bertha driver seems to be much more forgiving than my old driver, so my trademark "fade" stayed straighter for much longer. In combination, they allowed me to use a wedge for my approach shot to the 18th rather than the usual mid/long iron."
Hopefully we will have more success stories to follow from our hugely effective fitting day!

Masters Sweep
It's only a week to go until The Masters tournament tees off.
Our Masters Sweep is underway and the top names have yet to have been picked out. The cost is just £5 per ticket with prizes paying out for the top 5 finishes, and a boobie prize for the last person to make the cut.

GPS Watches
Over the Winter, the bunker renovations have changed the course dramatically, and obviously there are bunkers now on the course which were not previously there. I have only chosen to stock the very best GPS watches which in my opinion are GolfBuddy and Sky Caddie. These two companies map the course by foot to make it far more accurate. Due to the bunker renovations, the bunkers are now in new positions. We have arranged for Golf Buddy and Sky Caddie to return to Verulam to re-map the course to provide the most accurate yardages. Unfortunately if you own other watches such as Garmin which use google maps, your yardages to hazards etc will be incorrect. If you are looking to upgrade I hold in stock the new Golf Buddy WT3
