Welcome all to this week's informative Verulam Pro shop newsletter.
I trust you all enjoyed the Open Championship at St. Andrews. There was some stunning golf on show. At first the Old Course appeared to have shrunk in size with the likes of Dustin Johnson smashing the ball out of sight, but as the tournament progressed we saw a much more challenging course with the wind and the rain proving to be an added challenge, and there were some rightful leaders in the playoff. Congratulations to Zach Johnson who's straight driving and excellent pitching helped him see of Oosthuizen and Leishman.
Family Day
On Saturday we had our family day here at Verulam and the turnout was fantastic. The atmosphere was superb with the kids having a great time on the bouncy castle and in the paddling pool. There was a barbecue running so nobody went hungry and everybody appeared to have a great day.

Trivia Question Results
Last weeks trivia question was:
'What is the combined age of your pro shop staff'?
Well unfortunately nobody guessed the correct answer of 104 years combined, but some pretty close efforts.
Many thanks to those who entered!

It's been a busy week of captain pro matches. Last Wednesday we were challenged by the dynamic duo of Gerald Hill and Tony Fabian. The match was preceded with a steak and champagne lunch accompanied by a glass of the captains red wine. The match was played to a very high standard. Gerald played 7 or 8 under his handicap and had to make birdies to win the match 1 up on the last hole. Thanks to Angel Matamala for providing the Gin and Tonic's half way around.
Sunday's challengers were
Lewis and
Phil Yapp. Team Captain Pro started strongly and the Yapp's never managed to recover and only managed to take the honour on the 14th hole. The eventual score was 6 up.
