I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Captain Rik Bird on a fantastic Captain's Day despite the poor weather.
On Saturday it was Captain's day for our current Captain Rik Bird. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all, (even those who were out in the worse weather!) the course was playing hard in the miserable conditions but there were still some excellent scores!
Well done to all of those that took part and huge congratulations to all of the winners.

Samuel Ryder Golf Academy Junior Golf Passport
Last week saw the start of our eager young juniors who have now enrolled as Samuel Ryder Golf Academy Junior members.
2 sessions took place, one on Saturday and the other on Sunday where 20 children took part.
At the end of each session a trophy is awarded to the child that has given the most to the session whether they worked well in their team or showed signs of encouragement to others.
This week's winners were
Tilly Whiting and
Hayden Ho, look at the excitement in their faces!!
Superhero Callum Last week, myself and a team of amateurs played in the St Neots Pro Am. The team featured
Louis Matamala, Paul O'Hare and
Callum Austin.
All was going well through 3 holes when the team heard some splashing in a nearby lake. They ran over to see what was going on and they saw a dog struggling to stay afloat. Callum (the hero) took no time in stripping down to his boxers, grabbing the life ring and diving in to the lake to save the dog.
Well done Callum, we hope the smell has washed off by now!
PGA Fourball Qualifier On Monday Laurence and I represented Verulam in the PGA Fourball qualifier at Bush Hill Park in Enfield.
Unfortunately both of our putters were cold and only managed a score of 69 level par. We better get practicing for next year!!
Glen Returns to winning ways at St. Neots Glen Portelli returned to the winner's circle after a birdie blitz at the St Neots Pro-Am.
Our Verulam professional blazed to a two-shot victory, thanks to a five-under-par 65.
Portelli signalled his intentions with a birdie at the opening hole - the first of eight that he would make.
There were back-to-back slip-ups at the 12th and 13th but the Portelli victory charge was back on track at the 14th where he picked up a stroke.
And he notched his final birdie at the 17th to ensure that he came home with a bit to spare from
James Ruebotham (Welwyn Garden City) and
David Salisbury (Three Rivers).
If anyone would like to play a Pro-Am with any of our PGA Professionals here at Verulam then please feel free to
contact us.
Have a great week and see you all soon!
Regards,
Joel, Glen, Laurence and
Stephen
