Last week has seen the start of the PGA East Region Pro Am schedule with Glen and Laurence both taking teams to The Hertfordshire Golf Club.
The "Italian Stalion" Mr Glen Portelli picked his team wisely resulting with them contending for the team prizes narrowly missing out on 1st place on countback. Team members were
Eric Saunders, Callum Austin and
Jamie Winch whose score of -16 was fantastic!
Laurence was playing with Verulam members for the first time and what an inspiration they were. Tony Fabian, Peter Beebee and Gerald Hill all passed on their swing tips and course management advice which resulted in Laurence finishing in 3rd place with a score of -3 (67).

Mizuno Fitting Day - Wednesday, 10 June
The Mizuno fitters from the tour department who have fitted players such as Luke Donald and Chris Wood are coming to Verulam.

On Saturday we had the May Medal which was very well supported with 96 players turning up to take part! The scoring was extremely good and the top spots for each division were hard fought for!

Dates are now up in the changing rooms to Challenge myself and the Captain. Dates are filling up fast so get your names down. It would be great to see some new challengers this year!
Last Wednesday our challengers were Sir Ian Magee and Bryan Pierson. Sir Ian rolled a 15 foot birdie putt in on the first hole for a 4 nett 3. That set the tone for the round as Ian's putter was red hot. Ian's long game was equally as good as his short game not missing any fairways. Not to leave Bryan out, he hit some big drives making a few nett birdies along the way. We managed to hang on in to win the game 1up.
Junior Open Days Weekends proved to be a Huge Success
The last 2 weekends have proved popular with junior golf here at Verulam Golf Club. The Professional team set up Open Days which were targeted at children who are new to the game or coming back to it having gained the buzz again!
Over 50 children were seen over these days so all is looking promising ready to start our "Samuel Ryder Golf Junior Academy" in the early part of June. It was great to see children from the age of 4 picking up a club and whacking the ball down the practice ground.
On the back of this, parents were enthused which has resulted in families coming up and having lessons with their children.
