Pro Shop reopens next week

A safe shopping environment for all

Ahead of non-essential retail reopening from the 12th April, we've been working hard behind the scenes to keep everyone safe.

Not only do we want you to enjoy playing golf with your friends, but we also want you to feel like you can pop by the shop for a browse or a chat before your round.

So, you'll be glad to hear that we have followed best-practice advice with several Covid-19 protocols in place - both for our staff and our members. We hope to see your smiling faces in-store very soon!

Club news

Buggies are Back

Now that the ground conditions have improved the club have given permission for buggies to used from tomorrow.

Where possible for the first week could we ask for the buggies to keep to the rough and away from the GUR areas.

Due to social distancing restrictions buggies are not allowed to be shared unless from the same household. The prices structure is as follows:

Members Single use £17.50

Members (same household) £25.00

Visitors Single Use £22.50

Visitors (same household) £30.00

Augusta's in full bloom

Back in November, we watched a totally unique Masters unfold. Dustin Johnson broke the tournament record, DeChambeau called Augusta a ‘par-67’ opening with 70-74 and Rory went from 3-over on Thursday to 11-under on Sunday. Madness! So… More of the same?

Absolutely not! Augusta National will have its bite back, for one thing. The return to the usual April date feels like we’re welcoming back an old friend in the form of a brutal golf course. It’s trickier than ever to call a winner, but why not have a go anyway?

10 years ago I had the week of my life at August National. Here is me standing on the 18th tee.

Mind the gap

If we asked you what club you hit 150 yards, you’d likely have an easy answer. However, when it comes to 100 yards and in, it all gets a little messy and unclear. The funny thing is, this is the part of the game where our scores are made and lost, so maybe we all need to focus a bit more time on getting it right?

Do you have any yardage gaps in your set?

To start with, make sure your wedges are evenly gapped.

What is gapping?
It’s the fun process where we make sure each club in your bag goes a specific distance and that there are even gaps between one club and the next. This is particularly helpful when it comes to your wedge system!

So, rather than having to try and manipulate your swing-length to hit the ball a certain yardage, let’s look at things a different way.

Instead, make a note of the distances you most commonly face on the golf course but don't have a club that matches up. Then, we can help find you a club that goes that distance. If this is something you'd be interested in, send us a message.
