Resumption of Golf

The greens staff have been incredibly busy the last twelve weeks preparing the golf course for re-opening. Greens maintenance work has been done and are recovering well. The fairways have been re-shaped, striped and a semi rough will be cut over the weekend. Here are a few pictures to wet your apetite......

Note the Coffee Lovers

Due to the cost of the coffee beans, the price of a coffee has now gone up to £1.30.

Coffee had remained at £1 since 2015 when I first purchased the machine.

Club news

Driving Range is Open

From Monday the 29th March the practice area will be open for use.

All balls must be purchased from the pro shop at a cost of £4 for approximately balls. We have invested heavily in new yellow balls and baskets. please read the guidelines below:

Woods are not permitted to be used
Balls MUST be purchased from the shop
Please return all baskets after use and DO NOT put them in your cars overnight
Play from the mats and roped grass areas
When playing from the grass keep divots together and use divot soil to repair area

Buggies

Unfortunately, buggies will not be permitted on the course for the first week.

This is due to the slightly softer ground conditions. We hope to have them in use for the following week.

Brand Fitting Days

I have been lucky enough to secure some brand fitting days for Callaway, TaylorMade and PING for April. These will be located on the driving range and are completely FREE to Verulam Golf Club members and JS Golf Studio newsletter subscribers. Their tour fitters will have the full complement of equipment available to try.

TaylorMade - Friday 9th April - 11am - 5pm

Callaway - Tuesday 13th April - 11am - 5pm

PING - Friday 23rd April - 11am - 3pm

On the move

You probably think of your trolley as just a handy way to take the weight of a full golf bag off your shoulders as you walk the course (which it is), but nowadays your trolley can also take a huge weight off your mind as you play.

New Motocaddy GPS trolleys

Last year marked a significant upgrade in the world of GPS electric trolleys, and this year is set to follow suit.

To begin with, Motocaddy has added GPS technology to its highly popular M3 model for the first time! As the screen below shows, you will be able to view key yardages to the green at the quickest of glances.

If you want more then the M5 GPS gives you all of this but on a larger, higher-resolution touchscreen. In addition, you'll be presented with a dynamic green view that allows you to drag & drop the pin to match what you're faced with on the course.

1-iron or hybrid?

No matter how good you are, it’s easy to feel intimidated when placing an old-school 1-iron or 2-iron behind the ball.
