Ladies news

Ladies Captain v Ladies Vice Captain Match - message from the Lady Captain

Weds 30th saw the Ladies Captains team take on a team managed by the Ladies Vice Captain (sadly LVC Jane Whittaker is shielding and couldn’t play but came along to walk the last four holes to cheer her players on - from a suitable safe distance!). Chris Campbell ably stood in for Jane on the course.

It was a lovely day with sunshine and lots of fun was had by all. Played as a four ball better ball match play the competition was fierce and each match tightly fought. With the contribution of the 11 hole ladies who provided one point for each side the eventual outcome was a tie, four matches each.

Many thanks to Christine and Jane and especially to my partner Diana Maynard who played exceptionally well. One of the fun days for me as Lady Captain that hasn’t been lost to the pandemic.

Half Term Junior Golf Camp

It's that time again, junior golf camps are back!

Grant will be offering 3 days of camp during the half-term holidays.

26th, 29th and 30th of October
9am - 12am each day
£35 each day
All areas of their golf will be evaluated through a combination of games and tests as well as video analysis.

The secret to a successful winter

Practice makes perfect, right? But perfect practise gets you there a lot faster. We've said it before - and we'll no doubt say it again - but winter provides the ideal opportunity to iron out some of those faults that have crept into your game.

It starts with a list

Begin by evaluating (out of ten) how close you are to your target for each area of your game. It's always best to be completely honest with yourself when doing this. In other words, forget about the odd time when you've hit a shot like Tiger and focus on what happens consistently round after round.

The path to better iron play

Hitting an iron and finding the heart of the green feels great. However, the big change comes when you can repeat that time after time - with the odd exception, of course. Not only will your scores begin to drop, but you'll also be full of confidence every time you pull a club out of the bag.
