Recruiting a Club Junior Organiser You may have noticed that some posters have been put up on noticeboards around the Golf Club in relation to recruiting volunteers to work with our Junior Section. We are currently working towards a revitalisation of our Junior Section, therefore ask for any and all interested parties to come forward and make themselves known to us if they have the enthusiasm and time to help in this area. We currently have 54 junior playing members, of which 12 have CONGU handicaps and of ages 7 up to 18 years old. We as a club want to be able to provide our junior members with a greater level of playing and coaching opportunities than at present and vital to this is a volunteer member network to work closely with the club administration and Professional Staff to deliver on various junior golf activities. This will help ensure the development of our Junior Section and potentially keep the Verulam membership healthy. Ideally, we are looking for a primary Junior Organiser to lead the section, but if you don’t feel you have the time or experience for such a role then any assistance will be gratefully received. We have had a couple of offers from members already we will be meeting with them in the next couple of weeks. The lead Junior Organiser will chair the Junior Committee meetings and will play an active role in the various golfing activities planned, including competitions and interclub matches. You don’t have to be a parent or a grandparent of an existing junior member or even a current Golf Club member for that matter, just the willingness to encourage juniors to participate in our great game. All parties will need to have the various Safeguarding documentation in place, but the cost of any courses or such like will be covered by the Golf Club. If you are interested in getting involved please contact the Office for an informal chat.
