Presentation Evening

Many thanks to all the members who attended the Presentation evening on Saturday, 25 October, your support is always appreciated and well done to those who collected trophies and prizes.

Herts Alliance

On Monday, 20 October, myself and my Assistant Glen took 2 teams of members to play in the Herts Alliance Pro-Am at Old Fold Manor Golf Club. Although our 2 teams didn't play to their full potential, Glen managed an individual score of 65, 6 under par. This was good enough to win the professional individual prize.

Our latest challengers were the dynamic duo of Roger Batten and Ian Yule.

We knew we were in for a tough match. It was nip and tuck all the way round. Roger and I both birdied 16 to stay all square and Roger then holed a 20 foot downhill left to right putt for a 2 and to take the match 1 up going down the last. Captain Wells played a career 9 iron from 120 yards to 10 foot and then stroked the ball into the hole to win the hole and level the match.

I would like to congratulate our Assistant Stephen Topping on completing his Level 1 Coaching Exam. Stephen is now qualified to coach children and groups. Stephen will shortly be organising group classes of both juniors and ladies on a Sunday.

Junior Academy

Verulam Golf Club and The Samuel Ryder School have teamed up to get kids into golf. Every Friday around mid-day you may notice lots of energetic kids being dropped off in the schools mini bus at Verulam to receive coaching from our PGA professionals. This is the start of our new Junior Academy and we are looking to expand further through the winter and have a fully running junior academy ready for next season.
