11 Hole Championship

Throughout the year we host a weekly 11 hole evening stableford event which is a good chance for members to meet each other and make new friends within the club. Obviously, however, there is a competitive side to it and members battle out each week to try to get the 1st place! We also set up an end of season championship which we held last Wednesday. This was very well supported considering the challenge of getting in before dark with 37 people trying to claim the great prizes that were set up for the event!

We also tricked up the pins to the toughest we could possibly make them which gave an extra buzz to the event and made it extremely tough and fun for the competitors. Below we have our selected pin positions for the tournament.

We also did nearest the pin on every hole for the 11. Here are the skilful winners of each hole, congratulations to those who won prizes!

Marten Cup

On Saturday we hosted the autumn round of an annual competition where the first round is at the start of the season in the Spring and the second round is the last round in the autumn. This is a good test to find a consistent golfer who can find form throughout the year.

After the first round in the Spring, our first round leader was Jez Knapp. He shot a nett 68 in the first round leaving him sitting in first place. In the second round he knew he was well in contention to win having had a very successful season getting his handicap cut from 8 to 5 this year. He continued his strong form to post another 68 and win the tournament by three shots.

 Here are the top three scores from the competition:

1st - J. Knapp - 68 + 68 = 136
2nd - D. Dobinson - 72 + 67 = 139
3rd - C. Walker - 71 + 69 = 140

Two's Results from Marten Cup

An amazing 15 Two's were recorded in the Marten cup.

Hard luck to Patrick Wright who produced a great two during his round on Saturday, but unfortunately does not win any balls because he did not pay his £1 fee. Remember next time….

Glen gets back to winning ways

Congrats to our assistant Glen who had a good run in last weeks East Region Order of merit event. Glen finished T6th over the 2 day tournament with an overall score of 1 under par.

Glen then went on to win the Pro Am on the 3rd day with a great score of 5 under at Basildon golf club. This result means our assistant will have a chance to qualify for the end of season play offs in turkey if he manages to win in this week's event at Rayleigh Golf Club.
