Mizuno Madness!
All golfers have long been aware of Mizuno’s reputation for producing irons that not only look fantastic but perform and feel unlike any other irons. However, few people are aware of just how good their wood range is!
Having tested their latest fairways woods and drivers, we were amazed (but not surprised) and just how strong their current offerings are. Trusted by our very own Laurence Allen, he has seen an improvement in both distance and dispersion since becoming a Mizuno ambassador and playing their wood range. For this reason, we feel that we’ve got to get these clubs in the hands of our members and guests to experience their unmatched performance for themselves!
Here at Verulam Pro Shop we will be offering you all an EXCLUSIVE deal on Mizuno woods. If you purchase any of their GT180 or ST180 driver or fairway woods, you will receive £100 OFF the marked retail price!

Take advantage of this opportunity to update your dated woods with the latest and best technology for a fraction of the cost of the offerings from other major brands.

[* END *] Driver Testing
This week we conducted a driver test with Carl being our testing guinea pig!
Carl tested the latest offerings from Callaway, PING, Mizuno and TaylorMade. All drivers were set up to Carl’s spec of 8.5 degrees with an X flex shaft, which he uses in his current PING G400 LST driver. 5 drivers were hit with each club in normalised conditions in the JS Golf Studio. Our focus was on average carry distance, backspin and dispersion, which we consider to be among the key metrics when looking for the best driver for you.
Results:
|
Callaway Rogue Sub Zero Carry distance: 285 yards Backspin: 2317 Dispersion: 29.7 yards PING G400 LST Carry distance: 279 yards Backspin: 2447 Dispersion: 19.1 yards Mizuno GT180 Carry distance: 282 yards Backspin: 2501 Dispersion: 18.9 yards TaylorMade M3 Carry distance: 275 yards Backspin: 2791 Dispersion: 31.6 yards
|
|
Summary of results:
As expected, Carl saw the best combination of distance and dispersion with his own PING G400 LST driver. With Carl being admittedly wild off the tee at times, this combination of distance and dispersion allows him to feel confident when pulling out the driver on the course.
The longest carry came from the Callaway Rogue driver which is consistent with the driver fittings we’ve conducted this year, making this driver a fantastic option for those looking to add those extra few yards to their drives.
The tightest dispersion came from the Mizuno GT180 driver. Carl attributes this to the driver’s unparalleled adjustability, resulting in the most consistent shape and flight from all drivers tested. Capt Pro Challenge
Last week’s challengers were Sir Ian Magee and Bryan Pierson. With a large amount of shots handed to them we knew we were up for a tough match, and they didn’t prove no different.
Nett birdies and eagles were being scored, especially from Ian notably his four nett two on the 7th hole. The Captain and I came back on the back nine but unfortunately lost 4 down overall.
Thanks for an extremely enjoyable game gentleman! |

Introducing Cleveland RTX 4 |
Trying to hit your wedge shots the same way as the pros can be frustrating, especially when you see the amount of spin they achieve from all sorts of lies. Yes, technique plays a part, but so does having a set of wedges that you can trust in every situation. |
A wedge fit for tour Available in September, Cleveland's latest wedge incorporates feedback from some of the world's best golfers, such as Graeme McDowell, to make this their most tour-authentic wedge to date. As the name suggests, the RTX 4 is the fourth generation of the RTX family, with each seemingly better than the last. Cleveland says the RTX 4 will provide ultimate short game control, thanks to increased spin generation from their sharpest grooves to date. So, if you're serious about improving around the greens, come and speak to us about a custom fitting. |
