Thomas Bjorn visits Verulam
Saturday, 5 May saw us welcome this year’s Ryder Cup captain and Golf legend Thomas Bjorn to the Club. With Mr. Bjorn competing nearby in the GolfSixes at Centurion Golf Club, he took the time to visit local landmarks and fittingly came to learn all about our history here at Verulam and our strong ties to the Ryder Cup.
As well as being interviewed by the European Tour and Sky Sports here at the Club, he also took the time to take photographs with our members which was much appreciated by all at the Club on Saturday evening.

Verulam GolfSixes team win at Centurion
We’re very pleased to inform you all that our Verulam Junior’s GolfSixes team took part in the Flagship fixture in their League on Sunday at Centurion Golf Club. For the second time in three events, we won.
A fantastic day was had by all, with all of our team taking part in the event itself and playing outstanding Golf, seeing them yet again come out on top against six other teams from around Hertfordshire.
As well as the golf, the juniors were treated to a Q&A session with European Tour and Ryder Cup star such Eduardo Molinari. One of our team, young member Raffi Masters even got to challenge the professionals in the main tournament itself.

Raffi made a fantastic swing to the Par 3, a sweet strike that just caught the bank to the right of the green and made its way on to the fringe. The shot was that good that it even made the European Tour Highlight reel. |
Verulam ladies on tour
Our Verulam ladies embarked on their annual golf tour last week with the choice of destination this year being Vilamoura, Portugal.
Several of our active ladies’ section spent a few days away, soaking up some sunshine, causing havoc and of course, playing some brilliant golf on some of the finest courses the region has to offer.

Perfect for cooler rounds Yes, we've enjoyed a record-breaking Early May Bank Holiday weekend without a sweater in sight, but the reality is temperatures will soon get a little cooler over the coming days. To combat the chill whilst on the course, especially early mornings or late evenings, consider a ProQuip quilted windproof, which provide lightweight warmth whilst blocking out any wind.

Let’s face it: we all want to hit the ball further. Being able to hit longer drives gives you less club into the green, making everything that little bit easier. There are many ways you can try and generate more power during your swing, and nearly all of them start from the ground up. |
Trust your footwear Despite his small frame, tour star Rickie Fowler is renowned for his power. As you can see in the three images above, he pushes off from his right foot through impact and relies on great grip and stability to ensure the power his body is creating doesn’t come at the cost of control. Having a strong base is something we should all aspire for. The Mizuno Wave Cadence can help you do this thanks to its unique Wave midsole that was originally created for runners seeking stability, plus its durable spikes will give you reliable traction across all terrains. |
