European Tour Returns
It was great to see some of the world's best player's play for the first time in 2017. Rory McIlroy fell short to Graeme Storm in the South African Open play-off after the world No.2 cards a final round 68. Storm, just eighty-three days after losing his European Tour card by 100 euros, pipped Rory McIlroy in a play-off to win the South African Open.
Storm was given a reprieve when Patrick Reed failed to play enough events to join the Tour and he made the most of his second coming in Johannesburg.
Rory McIlroy's 67 was a fine first tournament round of 2017, but all everyone was talking about at the BWM South African Open was his outrageous drive with the new Callaway EPIC Driver.
Having not played competitively in two months, McIlroy stepped on to the first tee (his 10th) and launched it 392 yards. As a mark of intent, it was particularly ominous, particularly as he is playing with new clubs following the withdrawal of his sponsors, Nike, from equipment making.

EPIC Launch Night - Friday, 20 January

Last Saturday's yellow ball competition was postponed due to the snow the day before. It has been re-scheduled to Saturday, 18 February and a new start sheet will be created as per usual competition.
