Verulam Pro's battle the Links 

Last week saw Verulam Pro's Joel Saunders, Glen Portelli and Stephen Topping take 3 members to the Suffolk Coast to compete in the PGA Autumn Classic. The 2 day tournament had a unique format with Greensomes on day 1 and Better ball on Day 2. 

Glen Portelli and Alan Makepeace performed well to finish 4th Overall, Stephen Topping and Matt Bliss started well in round 1, although maybe an earlier bedtime would have improved scoring for day 2. 

All in all a very good week with lots of laughing and some decent golf.

Green Drainage work has begun 

Last week saw the start of the winter drainage work on holes 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. We have brought in experts in the area of green drainage so we trust that the work they are doing will be second to none. The work is progressing well and they are trying to get the greens playable as soon as possible, but please be patient as the work will make the greens perform better in the future. 

   

 

On Sunday, 9 October, Captain B Aldridge and I were challenged by Barry Moule and Bill Austin in the latest Captain/Pro Match. 

The match was played in terrific spirit with the captain and I winning the last hole to scrape a half. 

The course was looking beautiful in the lovely autumn sunshine. 


 

Huge Ladies Success

Congratulations to the Ladies Scratch Team who have been promoted from Division 4 to Division 3 of the Hertfordshire Scratch league. 

Well done for the fantastic season and we wish you the best of luck in Division 3 next year. 


 

Winter League is in Full Flow..

Junior Team Coaching 

This coming Sunday at 1pm Professionals Stephen and Glen are running a FREE junior team bonding and coaching session. If you are a junior member or know someone that is, make sure this session isn't missed. 

The goal is to create a team atmosphere within the junior session and to have a lot of fun. 

Alternatively, if your child is not a junior member yet, we offer both individual and group lessons to help develop the skills needed to become part of the junior team.
