There are still some spaces available to challenge myself and the captain in our challenge matches, however spaces are filling up fast. Please enter your names on the board in the changing rooms.
Eva is only 7 weeks old and has already sat in the Captain's chair. I've been at the club for 15 years and still never done it.
Victory Cup Winner
Our current Victory Cup champion Kevin Hull attended a lesson a couple of weeks ago wanting some consistency to his game. As ever when coaching, I like to keep my methods simple as you know. We notified the problem that initially his address position was poor. His alignment was far too right of target, and the ball position was too forward in his stance. Kevin's poor shots were a 'pull' shot to the left. From this poor setup position, Kevin's only movement to try and get the ball starting on line was to swing the club to the left of the target. From that movement pull shots left and fades to the right were occurring. Once a better address position was achieved, I gave him a simple swing thought of swinging the club to the right of target. All these factors improved Kevin's ball striking.
Notably three of the top four players in the Victory Cup have had a lesson in the last few weeks, including Tom Naylor (left), and Jamie Cowan (right). If you would like greater consistency with your golf swing, click here to get in touch to book a lesson. Remember my coaching philosophy is to keep things simple.

A Message from the Junior Organiser
Last Saturday we made the trip across Hertfordshire to play Batchworth Park. Before we teed off, we were up against it with only 5 players to play against 7, so 2 of the team had to go out as a single against 2, plus the fact all these lads were 17 years old, and a little wiser on their own course, so my advice to our team was to enjoy the course and have a good time. Overall we lost the match 11.5 to .5, as front nine back nine and overall result contribute to a point. Well done Adam for getting us a half point, and thank you to the team of Molly Doyle (Captain), Tommy Naylor, Adam Scott, and last but not least our 2 youngest members Stefan Martin who has not played off the whites at Verulam yet, and Sam Moore for all putting the Club before themselves! The contest was also played in good spirits, and despite a couple of heavy showers they all enjoyed themselves.
Next Saturday we have our May Junior Stableford, tee off from 2pm. I will be around as I am playing with the club captain in the Gents Invitation, so I hope to see all of you then, especially the younger members with no handicaps, as this is an ideal time for you to get this sorted and enjoy the company of other golfers.
Lastly it's great to see a few of you out for 9 holes after you have done your homework now that the nights are drawing out instead of playing on the x box. Play 9 holes with your mates, or if you're looking for playing partners, come and see one of us in the Pro Shop, and we will try and sort something out for you.
